Okay, so I've had some people message me asking what my skin care routine looks like, so I figured why not make a Lifestyle blog about it! It has taken me a while to find a regimen that works, but I think I have finally nailed it down! Not everyone's skin is the same but for me I have combination skin that tends to have breakouts on my forehead, cheeks and sometimes my chin area! I thought once I hit 30 I would stop breaking out, but God has other plans! LOL. Anyway here are the products I use every day and then throughout the week. Click on the pictures to see where you can purchase these skin care items! :)
Make-up Remover: The key to effectively clean your face and unclog your pores is to remove all of your makeup before cleansing. I use these affordable, yet effective Neutrogena Cleansing towelettes before I wash my face at night to remove the days dirt and grime.
Cleanser: I have been using this cleanser for years. It is by far the best I have found. Revision skin care is one of my favorite skin care lines. Revision Papaya Enzyme Cleaner is the amazing. This cleanser smells great and it doesn't leave my skin feeling dried out. I LOVE this product!
Deep Clean: I have come to realize through trial and error, that if I don't properly clean my face and pores, I WILL breakout, every-time. SO when I started taking my skin care seriously I invested in a Clarisonic Face Brush. I have the Mia 2 and I use the Clarisonic revitalizing brush head. You can get both of these at Ulta or Sephora. Sephora has a wide range of brush heads you can choose from depending on your skincare needs.
Lotion: The most recent change in my skin care routine that has made a HUGE difference is Curology. Like I said before, I turned 30 in December and I was over my breakouts! With this brand you can send pictures of your face (without makeup) to a dermatologist and they prescribe you a "magical potion" that they believe will work on your face (depending on what problems they see). I was skeptical at first but after a month of using it consistently I definitely notice a difference. I even had a patient compliment me the other day on how smooth my skin was. It is a subscription where you pay every 2 months and get sent a new bottle bi-monthly. Your dermatologist emails you to check in monthly! It's like visiting the dermatologist without leaving your house OR paying the office fees. Check them out, they're awesome! **I only use this at bedtime before my moisturizer**
Moisturizer: My face is picky when it comes to moisturizers. I go to Elan Skin in Green Hills and visit Valentina periodically for facials. She told me I needed this product and I am glad I listened. I use Skinmedica AHA/BHA cream morning and night as my moisturizer. At night I use this AFTER I put my Curology lotion on. I get mine on Amazon, but you can get this at most spas or directly from SkinMedica.
Eye Cream: Probably one of the most important part of any skin care routine, especially for us girls! You age quicker around your eyes so I want to help my eye area age gracefully. I have used other eye creams, but I keep coming back to this one. No7 Protect and Perfect Intense Advanced Eye Cream, you can purchase it at Target or other retail stores. A little goes a long way and you're never too young to start!
Face Masks: I used different masks depending on what is going on at the time with my skin. I am going to post a few of my favorite ones! First, Revision Skincare Black Mask I use this once or twice a week as a pick-me-up for my skin. This mask helps remove dirt and grime from your pores, as well as tightens your skin. I
Image Skincare Ageless Total Resurfacing Mask my esthetician Valentina at Elan Skin in Nashville told me I needed this as well and she never steers me in the wrong direction! I use this once or twice a week and it helps remove all of the old, dead skin cells as well as removes dirt and grime from deep in my pores. This one has a gritty texture and you can feel the exfoliation! You can buy this online and even at Walmart.
Kate Somerville EradiKate Mask I use this mask ONLY when I have active breakouts. If i have active breakouts I typically only use this once a week maybe two if the breakout is particularly bad. So this lasts a long time! You can get it at Sephora or online at KateSomerville.com
GLAMGLOW Supermud Clearing Treatment I recently stumbled upon this mask in the checkout line at Sephora... well played Sephora, well played. I have only used this a couple times, but can definitely see a difference in my skin when I use it. This is made with activated charcoal and is used to clean pores, help clear blemishes and to help with oily skin. I love this mask so far!
Daily Moisture & SPF: It is SUPER important to protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun. Unprotected skin = aging! I use Revision Skincare Intellishade Matte Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 45. This daily before I put my makeup on to protect my skin, It is tinted so I often find myself using just this as my foundation. Check out all of Revision's skin care products on Revisionskincare.com clearly I love their products!
There you go! Let me know if you end up trying any of these and how you like them, OR if you already do use them! - Kayla
